When a ControlLogix rack loses its power supply, the whole line stops. The Allen-Bradley 1756-PA50 is the slim, rack-mounted standard power supply built to keep that rack alive. It sits in the leftmost slot of a 1756 chassis and converts a wide 85-265VAC input into the regulated rails your modules need. Technical Specifications
The 1756-PA50 accepts 85-265VAC at 47-63 Hz, so it tolerates real-world voltage swings without a step-down transformer. It delivers 8 A at 5.1V at 50 °C and 6 A at 60 °C, plus 2.5 A at 24V at 50 °C and 2.0 A at 60 °C, along with 1.5 A at 1.2V and 2 A at 3.3V. Maximum output power is 60 W at 0-50 °C and 50 W at 0-60 °C. Isolation is rated 250V continuous, and hold-up time reaches 30 ms at 60 W. The unit measures 14.0 x 7.8 x 14.5 cm and weighs 0.77 kg.
Where It Fits
This supply is compatible with 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13 and 1756-A17 chassis in Series A, B and C. That covers small local racks and larger distributed I/O racks. In a gas compressor station, for example, a 1756-A13 chassis running remote I/O depends on one supply like this. Keeping a spare means a failed unit is a swap, not a shutdown.
Installation Notes
Mount the module in the leftmost slot of the chassis. Use 2.5 sq. mm (14 AWG) solid or stranded copper wire rated 90 °C or higher, with insulation no thicker than 1.2 mm. The 1756-PA50 is a system power supply only; it does not feed field devices through terminal blocks. Operating temperature is 0-60 °C with 5-95% non-condensing humidity.
