When Extreme Heat Threatens Your Turbine Monitoring
Gas turbine operators know the problem: standard pressure sensors fail in the hot section, forcing unplanned outages and lost production. The 143-216-000-251 solves this. This Vibro Meter CP 216 piezoelectric pressure transducer is built for dynamic pressure monitoring in the most demanding environments, with an extreme temperature capability of −70 to 520°C.

What Makes the CP 216 Different
Unlike conventional transducers, the CP 216 uses man-made piezoelectric material in a compression-mode design. This produces an extremely stable device for long-term monitoring or development testing. With no input power requirements, it delivers a charge output through a 2-pole system insulated from the casing.
Key performance parameters:
| Specification | Value |
|---|---|
| Sensitivity | 200 pC/bar (13.8 pC/psi) |
| Dynamic measuring range | 0.0005 bar to 250 bar |
| Overload capacity | Up to 350 bar |
| Frequency response | 2 to 15000 Hz ±5% |
| Linearity | < ±1% over dynamic range |
| Resonant frequency | > 80 kHz |
| Acceleration sensitivity | ≤ 0.5 pC/g |
| Continuous temperature | −54 to 470°C |
| Extreme applications | −70 to 520°C |
Built for Hostile Environments
The transducer body uses NIMONIC alloy 90, hermetically welded for corrosion and humidity resistance. The integral mineral insulated cable uses INCONEL alloy 600. This construction survives gamma flux and neutron flux without effect. The CP 216 is certified for use in potentially explosive atmospheres, making it suitable for oil and gas installations where safety is critical.

Solving Real Engineering Pain Points
Pain point 1: Sensor drift in high-temperature zones. The CP 216 maintains linearity within ±1% across its dynamic range, even at continuous temperatures up to 470°C. For extreme applications reaching 520°C, the device still performs reliably.
Pain point 2: Cable degradation. The mineral insulated cable with two conductors handles the same extreme temperatures as the transducer. Choose between a LEMO connector (−55 to 155°C) or the Vibro-Meter high-temperature connector (−70 to 650°C) depending on your installation.
Pain point 3: Signal conditioning compatibility. The CP 216 works with the IPC 704 signal conditioner. Cable assemblies are available to connect the transducer to this unit. When integrating into existing monitoring systems, confirm your charge converter matches the 200 pC/bar sensitivity.
Installation and Maintenance Guidance
Mount the transducer according to mechanical drawings on page 4 of the datasheet. The 12 g transducer weight and 25 g/m cable weight minimize structural loading. Factory dynamic calibration at 1 bar peak and 2 Hz means no subsequent calibration is necessary. For maintenance, inspect periodically for cable damage and connector integrity. Follow the manufacturer’s safety manual for all procedures.
