Where the 1768-L45 Cuts Costs

In oil and gas, this controller manages medium-sized processes without over-specifying hardware. A single 1768-L45 can replace multiple smaller controllers, reducing panel space and wiring. For water treatment, its 30-module capacity supports distributed I/O, lowering installation labor. In manufacturing, the RS232 port connects to legacy equipment, avoiding costly upgrades. Each spec translates to lower total cost of ownership.

Installation and Maintenance for Long-Term Savings

Mount the 1768-L45 using M4 or #8 screws in a clean, dry enclosure. Maintain ambient temperature within 0° to +60°C and humidity at 5 to 95% non-condensing. Periodic inspection of connections and ventilation prevents downtime. The controller’s robust design minimizes maintenance, but always follow manufacturer guidelines for safety.

Integration and Compatibility

The 1768-L45 supports up to two communication modules for Ethernet (1768-ENBT, 1768-EWEB) and other protocols. For fieldbus networks, an external gateway may be required. Confirm cable and gateway needs with Oil AutoTech. The controller works with 1769 Compact I/O modules, providing flexibility for system expansion.

Selection Guide

Before ordering, verify your application’s I/O count, communication needs, and environmental conditions. The 1768-L45 suits medium-sized automation with up to 30 I/O modules.
